Publication Vegetationsgeschichtliche Untersuchung zur Geschichte des menschlichen Eingriffs in den Haushalt der Natur Ost-, Zentral-Tibets und West-Sichuans, sowie zum Problem der eiszeitlichen Waldrefugien(2010) Adamczyk, Sonja; Küppers, ManfredThis study deals with questions related to vegetation history, paleoclimatology, paleoecology and human impact since late glacial times and during the Holocene period. It is based on the pollen analyses of nine profiles from the Tibetan Plateau. The investigation provides an insight into the paleoclimatology of the Eastern and Central Tibetan Plateau as well as the Eastern Central Himalaya since late glacial times. Pollen-analytical results together with additional parameters such as coal particles and archaeological indicators focus on the central question from which time and in which intensity man has been influencing the ecosystem of the Tibetan Plateau. The extent of these influences and their consequences with respect to vegetation history and paleoecology are examined. The partly dramatically changes during the Holocene period, are due to climate shift as well as, changes of land use by man (e.g. pasture farming). Changes in vegetation history are investigated in respect to human impact and climate as well as to the significance of the last glacial forest refuge areas. The investigated areas on the Tibetan Plateau are marginal sites with respect to ecological and plant-geographical limitations. Therefore, human impact on land use, even small-scale influences, do have in part significant effects on vegetation, in particular on woodlands. Consequently, man is responsible for drastic changes in (paleo)ecology, (paleo)climatology and also in vegetation (history).
